91HITS – Horizontal Impact Test System
The Challenge

The U.S. Army required a system capable of simulating the horizontal energy generated by IED explosions within a controlled laboratory environment.
The Solution

The 91HITS features a dual-sled design, where a pneumatically driven impact sled collides with a test sled to generate high-energy horizontal impacts.
  • Velocity change up to 34 mph (15 m/s)
  • Acceleration levels exceeding 500 g
  • Impact energy capable of simulating extreme blast conditions

This system enables accurate replication of real-world explosive forces for advanced defense testing.

VITS – Vertical Impact Test System
The Challenge

To replicate the complex vertical shock events experienced during under-vehicle explosions, including multiple sequential impacts.

The Solution

The Vertical Impact Test System (VITS), also known as the Crew Seating Blast Effects Simulator (CSBES), generates programmable multi-impact events:

  • Initial impact at the feet region
  • Main shock event applied to the test table
  • Secondary “slam-down” aftershock

A 1,200 lb projectile drives the system, producing realistic blast dynamics and enabling accurate simulation of vehicle explosion responses.

HSXX20 – Ultra High-G Shock Test System

The Challenge

To simulate extreme impact conditions for applications such as bunker-penetrating munitions, requiring ultra-high velocity and acceleration.

The Solution

The HSXX20 Shock Test System incorporates a revolutionary active seismic base, significantly enhancing performance:

  • Velocity change up to 180 ft/s (54.9 m/s)
  • Acceleration levels up to 25,000 g
  • Rapid acceleration from 0 to 122 mph in under 40 feet

This makes it one of the fastest and most powerful shock systems ever developed.

MPTS – Mortar Plate Test System

The Challenge

Simulating the extreme forces generated during mortar firing, which can exceed 350,000 pounds, while maintaining high testing cycle rates.

The Solution

The Mortar Plate Test System (MPTS) uses high-pressure air-driven impact mechanisms to replicate real firing conditions:

  • Over 10 impact cycles per minute
  • Accurate simulation of live-fire loading conditions
  • Enables development of lighter, more reliable baseplate designs

Model 122-213 – Large-Scale Shock Test System

The Challenge

Testing both individual components and complete systems of large-scale equipment such as supercomputers.

The Solution

The 122-213 Shock Test System delivers unmatched scale and capability:
